How Kinu uses AI
Last updated: 9 September 2026.
A companion, not a doctor
Kinu is a wellness and self-tracking app. Where we use AI, it is there to help you organize your own information, nothing more. Kinu never diagnoses, never gives medical advice, and never tells you what to do about your health. It supports your care, it does not replace it. Always speak to a qualified healthcare professional about your health.
Where Kinu uses AI today
Right now, Kinu uses AI in one place: reading your lab reports. When you scan or upload a lab report, Kinu uses text recognition (OCR) to pull the values out, so you do not have to type them in by hand. The image is processed in that moment and then deleted, it is never stored. This is handled by Google Document AI on an EU endpoint, and it is covered in more detail in our Privacy Policy.
Everything else in Kinu is built from the information you enter yourself. Your weekly snapshot and your appointment summaries are put together from your own logs and are descriptive: they organize and surface what you have tracked, and show your lab values against your lab's own ranges. They do not add opinions, predictions, verdicts, or advice.
Kinu has no chatbot, so you are never talking to an AI instead of a person. Kinu does not use AI to profile you, make decisions about you, or recognize emotions, and it is not a medical device.
Please double-check scanned values
Text recognition can occasionally misread a number. After you scan a lab report, it is worth checking the values Kinu picked up against your original report, and correcting anything that looks off. You are always in control of what ends up in your diary.
If this changes
We may add new AI features in future (for example a helpful assistant, or AI-written explanations of your trends). If we do, we will update this page, tell you clearly when you are interacting with an AI, and label anything that is generated by AI, as the EU AI Act expects.
